Social Media in Plain English
This short video uses ice cream to describe how and why social media works. It’s probably one of the best, easiest to digest (pun not intended) ways of describing social media I’ve seen yet.
In the video Common Craft uses the example of a town called Scoopville, where everyone used to buy their ice cream from a huge business. Then, one day personal ice cream makers came about which allowed anyone and everyone to create their own flavor of ice cream.
Some flavors were a huge success (Red Velvet), while others (Pickle) did not develop a huge fan base but did develop a small and devoted fan base that allowed for enough revenue to come in to sustain the Pickle flavored ice cream.
It’s a great way of showing how social media empowers each of use to become our own marketing and media force. Contact The 42nd Estate for help developing your social media strategy.
